La Casa de la Salud (The House of Health) launched in partnership with the Office of Hispanic Links in the city of Petersburg, Virginia (USA), as an initiative with the objective of contributing to improve access to preventive health services, primary care and facilitate the actions of programs offered by public, private and non-profit organizations which expressed their interest in participating in this initiative during 2014.
At the beginning of 2015, La Casa De La Salud obtained approval as a non-profit organization which has allowed the association with other entities to develop projects and joint actions in the Hispanic community. Additionally, we assist these entities for the coordination and integration of joint actions of services and programs for the improvement of the health and living conditions of the Latino / Hispanic community.
The House of Health in five years will have consolidated a replicable model of joint work and coordinated with other organizations for the prevention, early detection and intervention of diseases and origin of health problems that concern public health and our Latino community.
Our mission is to contribute to the improvement of the health and well-being of the Latino community, through a holistic model that allows promoting healthy lifestyles and facilitates access to health services and other resources.
The House of Health has been implementing empowerment actions with information and health education of the Latino community through health promoters, who in turn facilitate access to health services and other resources. LCS promotes coordinated actions in the community in conjunction with other organizations to meet the needs of the community. Leaders and health promoters using electronic tools to facilitate and guide people through the bilingual web portal on health ( www.lacasadelasalud.org ) with information and resources relevant to the community.
