Cultural Humility Training

Understanding Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) and Ethical Principles

As part of the collaborative project between VCU and La Casa de la Salud, an interactive online training module was developed to build knowledge and skills in Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) among VCU students, faculty, and staff.

This module offers short videos, interactive activities, and quizzes to teach key CBPR concepts. Participants learn to work with communities rather than about them, emphasizing trust, respect, and shared decision-making. The module strengthens cultural competency, provides practical tools for partnering with community organizations, and supports ethical, equitable, and effective research collaborations.

Core Competency trainings for Spanish Speaking CHW

La Casa de la Salud delivered culturally and linguistically appropriate Spanish-language training for Community Health Workers in partnership with the Institute for Public Health Innovation (IPHI). Participants gained skills to better support their communities, advance community-based work, and help Spanish-speaking individuals access health services and essential resources.
