La Casa de la Salud (LCS) is excited to announce a growing partnership with Virginia Commonwealth University’s (VCU) School of Public Health (SoPH). Together, we aim to strengthen health research and promote health equity within the Latino community by fostering community-driven, culturally responsive research initiatives. This collaboration aligns with our strategic plan to support efforts to address health disparities affecting the Latino community.
Over the past months, the LCS and SoPH leadership teams have been actively working to develop a shared framework for this partnership, engaging in strategic planning to formalize a Terms of Collaboration that defines our mutual goals and roles. We have also consulted with SoPH Latino faculty and students, securing their opinions on key objectives.
This grant also supports bidirectional learning and the professional growth of SoPH postgraduate fellows providing hands-on experiences, enhancing community outreach and engagement skills, and strengthening cultural competency. For LCS community health workers, the collaboration also emphasizes principles of community-engaged research, ethical practices, and the importance of community-driven data.
As our partnership progresses, we are inspired by a shared commitment to improving health outcomes. We look forward to advancing these efforts and creating lasting positive change for our communities. Stay tuned for updates as we build on these efforts and move forward with our mission to support the health and well-being of the Latino population.
