In September 2024, La Casa de la Salud (LCS) announced a growing partnership with Virginia Commonwealth University’s (VCU) School of Public Health (SoPH) to strengthen health research and promote health equity within the Latino community. This collaboration focuses on community-driven, culturally responsive research initiatives and aligns with LCS’s strategic plan to address health disparities affecting the Latino population.
Over the past months, LCS and SoPH leadership teams developed a shared framework, engaging in strategic planning and consulting with SoPH Latino faculty and students to define mutual goals and roles. The grant supporting this work also provides hands-on learning opportunities for SoPH postgraduate fellows, enhancing community outreach skills and cultural competency, while reinforcing ethical, community-engaged research practices for LCS staff.
